Northfield Clinic expands: Take a video tour

Plans are moving forward to expand both the Northfield Clinic and the Birth Center in 2019. The Northfield Clinic has outgrown its space, with new providers and more patients for family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine and specialty care. We need more space for these growing services, and any new services. The Birth Center now welcomes about 550 babies a year. The current space would be great if babies came on a steady schedule two or three at a time – but babies come when they’re ready, and more space will let us accommodate more births at the same time.

The Northfield Clinic will add exam rooms and space for providers joining the practice, using a design that supports our care team model. The Birth Center will increase its capacity to handle 750 births a year, and add an operating room specifically for C-sections. Together, the two projects will cost about $13 million.

The Northfield City Council approved the plan earlier this week, so now the Hospital Board can move ahead to prepare an RFP for architect and construction services. Our goal is to begin construction in the spring.
