Physical Therapy for Women - Women's Rehabilitation

No problem or question is too awkward. These problems are common, but physical therapy can address them and help you get back to a normal life. Don’t needlessly suffer. Many women's health issues are treatable.

Our physical therapy services are designed specifically for women, to enhance your health. You’ll receive a skilled, sensitive evaluation by female therapists trained in women’s health. We’ll listen to your concerns and create a personalized therapy regimen to meet your specific needs.

Conditions we treat:

  • Chronic pain and headaches
  • Diastasis Recti - a separation between the rectus/abdominal muscles
  • Low back pain and Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
  • Pregnancy and post-partum concerns
  • Pelvic/abdominal pain - including pain with urinating, bowel movements, periods
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Post surgery and specific cancer surgery care
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Urinary and fecal issues including frequency and urgency with elimination, night time toileting, incontinence, incomplete emptying

Help After Having a Baby

Giving birth is a joyful event, but can be hard on a woman’s body. Pain, leaking urine and constipation are just some of the problems women face after pregnancy. These problems are common, but physical therapy can address them and help you get back to a normal life. Don’t needlessly suffer. Ask your provider for a referral to physical therapy.

What symptoms are COMMON to have after delivering your baby but NOT NORMAL?

  • Separation of abdominal muscle (Diastasis Recti)
  • Pain in pelvic area or groin (Pubic symphysis pain)
  • Pain in the vagina or rectum
  • Abdominal pain
  • Low back pain, neck pain, thoracic spine pain, shoulder pain
  • Heaviness or pressure in vaginal area or pelvis (Pelvic organ prolapse)
  • Constipation
  • Leakage of urine with cough, laugh, sneeze (Stress urinary incontinence)
  • Strong urges to urinate and must rush to the bathroom with leakage (Urge urinary incontinence)
  • Urinary urgency/frequency - strong urges to urinate and must rush to the bathroom but without leakage
  • Difficulty starting a urine stream or straining to start a urine stream
  • Painful intercourse
  • Difficulty holding back gas

Ask your provider for a referral to physical therapy to get started. It’s NEVER too late to get help. Even if you are 10+ year out from having your baby, we can help.

Help Before Having a Baby

We believe in empowering women to have the birth experience they want and deserve. Preparing for birth by meeting with a physical therapist can help you learn techniques that will help minimize the strain on your body and help you recover faster after your delivery.

Physical Therapy can help with:

  • Provide guidance and education on how to initiate activity during pregnancy
  • Provide guidance and education on how to continue or modify activity during pregnancy
  • Symptoms to watch for that may identify signs of excessive strain
  • Talk about any concerns you have
  • Provide education and tips for having a vaginal delivery
  • Provide education and tips for having a cesarean delivery
